The Navy Seals are looking for a few good men… and a few great dogs. Navy Seals use a great deal of specialized equipment, but nothing is more valuable than the highly trained warrior dogs currently on duty.

These courageous canine combatants are outfitted with high-tech vests that protect against injuries from knives and bullets. Night-vision cameras allow handlers to see what the dogs see. And self-inflating life vests assure that our canine elite don’t get swamped when hitting the beach.

Although GI dogs have a bite that is definitely worse than their bark, their greatest value is their ability to sniff out bombs. Of all the sophisticated tools to detect these hidden dangers, none has proved better than a canine nose.

So next time you salute the men and women who keep our country safe, don’t forget the dogs that do likewise.
