Live Edition: Animal Airwaves—Live is an hour-long call-in show that airs between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays on WUFT-FM in Gainesville. The show features faculty members from the UF Veterinary Hospitals who address a variety of topics relating to pet health care, including companion animals, exotic pets and horses.

What exactly are exotic pets? How do you know if this type of pet is right for you? Does properly maintaining an exotic pet in your household differ from caring for Fluffy or Fido? Find out more about why hamsters, rabbits, snakes, birds and iguanas, among many other types of pets commonly known as exotics, have become increasingly popular — and what you should know before you get one –when Dr. Jim Wellehan of the UF Veterinary Hospitals discusses his experience working with these fascinating animals.
