LIVE: Managing Stones in Your Pet’s Urinary Tract

Live Edition: Animal Airwaves—Live is an hour-long call-in show that airs between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturdays on WUFT-FM in Gainesville. The show features faculty members from the UF Veterinary Hospitals who address a variety of topics relating to pet health care, including companion animals, exotic pets and horses.

Did you know that our pets suffer from kidney and bladder stones similar to those found in humans? This week, Dr. Alex Gallagher, a small animal medicine specialist, will discuss how to spot signs of urinary stones and when your pet should be seen immediately by a veterinarian. Dr. Gallagher will also discuss how these stones are diagnosed and ways in which these can be managed, including a new minimally invasive procedure known as laser lithotripsy.
