A woof-worthy workout

A woof-worthy workout

Whether they’re outdoor adventurers or pedestrian pooches, our canine companions love to run. And now they even have their own treadmills for woof-worthy workouts.

Underwater treadmills have been mainstays in canine physical therapy programs. Now dog treadmills, which accommodate a dog’s shorter body and longer stride relative to human proportions, are commercially available. The design lets your four-legged friend run more than a mile in 10 minutes without you having to match the pace. Treadmills also allow elderly owners or those with health problems to exercise their dogs. And when the weather isn’t cooperating, a treadmill saves the day. Dog treadmills can even provide some serious stimulation for shelter dogs.

No wonder sales of dog treadmills have been brisk. They may just be more than a passing trend.
