Toys aren’t just child’s play

Toys help our pets stay active and mentally alert.

If your cat is a swatter, a teaser toy is a great choice. For pouncers, plastic balls and chase toys are winners. And explorers are often content with tunnels, paper bags and boxes, while a cuddler might choose a stuffed toy, with or without catnip.

Canine chewers like tough rubber toys that can be filled with treats. Chasers love balls or sticks, while cuddlers go for squeaky plush toys. Always supervise dogs at play and inspect toys for defects before and after playtime. Be sure toys aren’t so small that they can be swallowed.

Gerbils and hamsters enjoy wheels, while ferrets flip over tunnels and dig boxes. Birds love to chew on wood, search for treats or make noise with their toys.

Selecting the right toy isn’t simple child’s play, but it can make all the difference!
