Feline food facts

You’ll do anything to care for your feline friend, including feeding him the best food around. But there are some diet-related dangers you need to know about.

A quick switch to a new meal plan often throws off a cat’s digestive tract. So be sure to transition to the new diet over several days by gradually mixing new food in with the old.

Likewise, diets containing raw or undercooked meat or eggs can be chock full of bacteria that can cause major tummy troubles. So steer clear of anything on the rare side.

You might think a homemade diet would be safer than a commercial one. But remember that most pet foods have been developed to be nutritionally balanced. Diets lovingly made at home may actually have dangerously high or low levels of essential vitamins and minerals.

So go ahead and pamper your cat. Just be conscious of kitty cuisine in the process.
