Providing a health-driven history

Providing a health-driven history

Virtually all diagnostics start with a medical history — and nobody knows your pet better than you do. That’s why your veterinarian counts on your insight for clues to your pet’s health.

So when you take your buddy in for an exam, come armed with information. That includes the type and amount of food your pet eats, brands and doses of current and past medications, previous medical problems and any history of travel or socializing with other animals.

Get set to explain when any current problems became obvious and how so. Photos, videos or samples can help fill in the gaps. Also be sure to describe changes in your pet’s behavior, including shifts in eating, sleeping and activity.

Having a complete history helps your veterinarian cut to the chase, which means getting — or keeping — your pet in tip-top shape.
