Moving into a different routine

Moving into a different routine

As a pet parent, you know how much your buddy relies on routine. So an upcoming move could send him into a tailspin. Here are some tips that might ease the trauma.

You can gradually introduce the move by starting to pack weeks in advance. If your pet stays on schedule for eating and exercising, he might not notice much difference.

The day of the move, keep your buddy confined to one room or in his crate. If that’s too stressful, a brief kennel stay might in order — even if the move is just around the corner.

Well in advance of relocation, make sure your new digs are as pet-friendly as the old ones. When you arrive, set out familiar pet paraphernalia in corresponding spots — for example, bowls from the old kitchen into the new kitchen, and so on.

Above all, keep calm — because your pal takes his cues from you.
