AA Live-Heat Stroke in Dogs

AA Live-Heat Stroke in Dogs

Dogs rely on different ways to cool their bodies than people do; they don’t sweat, for example, they pant. Under certain circumstances, these mechanisms prove ineffective, causing the risk of overheating. On Animal Airwaves-Live tomorrow, Dr. Alex Lynch, an emergency and critical care specialist, will discuss heat stroke in dogs, including what people should do – and NOT do – in hot weather to reduce the chances of heat stroke affecting their dogs. He’ll also discuss signs to look for, action steps pet owners can take prior to transporting their dog to the veterinarian and how veterinary emergency specialists treat heat stroke patients. The show airs from 1-2 p.m. Saturdays on WUFT-FM, 89.1.
