Storing pet food the right way

Storing pet food the right way

Once you’ve found the right food for your pet, you can follow some simple steps to make the most of its yummy goodness.

First, make sure the packaging is securely closed after use. Use a sturdy clip on folded bags of kibble or store food packages in sealed containers. But if you pour kibble directly into a plastic container, make sure it’s one that’s designated “food-safe.” That way, chemicals won’t leach into the food. And make sure to close the lid tightly after each use.

If you feed your pet canned food, don’t leave it open and out of the fridge for over two hours. And when it comes to any food—wet or dry—don’t keep it past the expiration date. It’s also best to wash pet food bowls in soapy water after each use to prevent bacterial growth.

Remember, maximizing food’s freshness is a simple way to pamper your pet.
