Airport “pet-iquette”

Airport “pet-iquette”

If your pet’s gonna be your flying partner, remember that you’ll need to negotiate the airport first.

Before heading to the terminal, find an online map showing the airport’s pet relief areas. Although required for service dogs, these spots might be closed to your pet. So, carry some wee-wee pads — just in case your furry friend has to accompany you to the bathroom.

Your pet’s carrier will be X-rayed at security, so be ready to accompany your buddy through the metal detector. Collars trigger alarms, so be prepared for extra attention.

Unless you have a service animal, your pet must be kept in the carrier at all other times. Although the airport might cut you some slack, some airlines may block you from boarding if they see your pet out of the carrier.

Remember, you’ll soon be flying high — if you just know some airport “pet-iquette.”
