The U.S. Army Veterinary Corps provides a means for veterinarians to provide expertise in a variety of ways, ranging from the provision of medical and surgical care to military working dogs to participation in a variety of humanitarian missions to eradicate disease or provide service during natural disasters. Dr. Katie Barry, a small animal surgery resident, shares her experience working as a military veterinarian and how this niche area of service differs and yet overlaps with other veterinary professional career paths.
