UF student association announces public health week activities

In recognition of National Public Health Week beginning April 6, the UF Public Health Student Association is hosting a series of events designed to raise awareness about the nation's public health challenges. All events are free and open to the public.

• Monday, April 6: Screening of "Unnatural Causes," a seven-part documentary exploring racial and socioeconomic inequalities in health. The student association will screen the chapters "In Sickness and in Wealth," "When the Bough Breaks" and "Becoming American." Refreshments will be served at intermission. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the HPNP Complex auditorium. The Doctors Without Borders student organization will show a short film at 5:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, April 8: Screening of "Unnatural Causes" documentary chapters "Bad Sugar," "Place Matters," "Collateral Damage" and "Not Just a Paycheck." Refreshments will be served at intermission. The event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the HPNP Complex auditorium. The Doctors Without Borders student organization will show a short film at 5:30 p.m.

• Thursday, April 9: Meet with the student association throughout the day at the HPNP Complex ground floor lobby and learn more about public health careers and public health issues. Free literature and other giveaways will be available.
